While it may seem logical, as Andrew's eldest child, for Princess Beatrice to inherit her father’s title upon his death, this will not be possible because of UK law.
Male primogeniture means that hereditary peerages, such as dukedoms, can only be passed onto sons and not daughters.
This law still exists in the UK today, despite calls to change it.
A campaign called Daughter’s Rights is working to put an end to male primogeniture in Britain.
Unless this law is scrapped, Prince Andrew’s peerage will pass onto the next eligible male royal, which could possibly be Prince Louis.
The Letters Patent for the 1986 creation of the Dukedom of York says the title will be inherited by ‘heirs male of the body.'
As Prince Andrew has no sons, none of his children can inherit the royal title.
This comes after Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew's ex wife, gave a rare insight into their life together.
The Duchess of York appeared to confirm that she is in lockdown with Prince Andrew, Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
