If you’ve ever fancied having Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla as your neighbors, now could be your chance.
Doughton Manor, located less than a 5-minute walk from the Prince of Wales's Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, has hit the property market at a cool price tag of £4 million – and we’re already desperate to know which lucky person (or people!) will be moving in.
With five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and three reception rooms, this refurbished Grace I-listed building is the perfect abode for raising a large family or hosting extravagant parties – or, if introductions go well, entertaining your aristocratic neighbors. There's also five attic rooms (yes, five) and a utility room, pantry, larder.
The detached, limestone house itself sits on 4.8 acres of land dotted with restored walled gardens and lavender-adorned footpaths, as well as a non-functioning swimming pool, a listed stone barn, and a Coach House.
It’s understood that Doughton Manor, which dates back to the Elizabethan era, has been owned by Richard Carter for nearly 35 years. The 1590s property has been opened to the public on a handful of occasions in the past but remains widely unknown considering its adjacency to royalty – at least, until now.
The potential buyers of Doughton Manor is still a mystery, but you can bet they’ll need to share Prince Charles’ green fingers – or be able to pay an excellent landscaper – if they're hoping to sign the deal.
Like Highgrove House, this sprawling property requires a huge amount of outdoors maintenance and is unlikely to be snapped up just anybody. Here's hoping that whoever moves in, they'll be able to weed out some free horticultural advice from their gardening-mad royal neighbors.
