Meghan Markle has made a special nod to her mother, Doria Ragland, in her latest business venture with Prince Harry.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been working hard at establishing themselves as savvy entrepreneurs since their high-profile move to the US in January 2020, signing deals with Netflix and Spotify under Archewell Productions just a few months after landing in the states.
It has now been revealed that the couple has founded two entertainment firms—one of which makes a sentimental reference to Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.
The former Suits star has registered one of the showbiz companies as Cloverdale Inc, which just so happens to share the name of the street she and her mom lived on when she was growing up in Los Angeles.
Meghan moved to a top-floor apartment on S. Cloverdale Ave, Mid-Wilshire, with yoga instructor Doria, shortly after her parents divorced in 1983. It's understood that the Duchess divided her time between the modest flat and her father's ground-floor apartment on Vista Del Mar Avenue until she graduated from high school in 1999.
News of the sweet gesture comes just a few days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana by naming one of their two publishing firms after the late royal's favorite song. The other firm, Peca, also appears to bear a nostalgic influence, with some speculating it was inspired by the Duchess's first children's book.
Last week, it was revealed that the couple has set up 11 companies in total in the state of Delaware, where they will be able to benefit from low tax rates and lenient business laws.
Meghan and Harry are currently living in a $14 million Santa Barbara mansion in Moncetio with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
They have not returned to the UK as a family since their withdrawal as senior royals in January 2020, largely due to travel restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Duke's alleged rift with Prince William and Prince Charles.
It's expected that they will finally make the long-awaited visit, however, this June, for the Queen's highly anticipated Platinum Jubilee 2022. The trip will mark Her Majesty's first in-person meeting with her great-granddaughter, Lilibet 'Lili' Diana, after a full year of virtual correspondence.
