Prince William and Kate Middleton have a third ‘secret home’ tucked away from the spotlight
The couple have a third home
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a third “secret home” tucked away on the Balmoral estate in Scotland.
- Prince William and Kate Middleton have two known homes—Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
- They also have a third base in Scotland, so private that few photos exist of it.
- In other Royal News, Prince William and Kate Middleton's latest move could be 'ammunition' for the Sussexes
Prince William and Kate Middleton are keen to give their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—as normal an upbringing as possible, which could be why the couple have a third secret home not known to the public.
As well as their two known bases—Kensington Palace in London and Anmer Hall in Norfolk—it has since emerged that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also have access to a remote three-bedroom cottage situated on the Balmoral estate in Scotland.
According to CambridgeshireLive, Tam-Na-Ghar Cottage was a gift to the future King from his late great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, and is the couple’s hideout.
With the Queen hosting regular guests at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, the couple have the option to stay at the cottage when things get a little crowded.
A Vanity Fair source revealed in 2019, “The Queen has a lot of guests coming and to ease the pressure the Cambridges are likely to stay at the cottage.

“That could have added benefits for everyone as it means more space in the castle.”
The news comes after it was revealed that the couple are “seriously considering” relocating to Windsor to be closer to the Queen as she nears the end of her reign.
Their Norfolk-based Anmer Hall worked perfectly for when William was a pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
It also allowed the couple to raise their three children away from the spotlight.
But, now with two of their three children based at London schools, Norfolk may not be the best option anymore.
An insider told the Mail on Sunday, “Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia and it was useful for Christmases at Sandringham, but it doesn’t really work any more.
“It’s a little too far away for weekends, but Windsor is a perfect compromise. They are eyeing up options in the area.”
It would also mean the Queen has more members of the family around her as they continue to “rally around” Her Majesty following Prince Philip’s death.
