Sharon Stone has opened up about her traumatic abortion experience with fans, which she underwent in secret after unintentionally becoming pregnant as a teenager.

The Total Recall actor recounted the ordeal in her new memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, in which she shares a litany of candid stories about her incredible life - including the time her surgeon made her breasts bigger without her consent

Sharon revealed the termination forced her to leave her home state of Pennsylvania, where she was too young to legally have an abortion. The 18-year-old was driven by her boyfriend to Ohio, where she did not require parental consent to undergo the procedure.

Having being raised in an ‘extreme country’ environment, Sharon was terrified of people finding out about the abortion. The aspiring actor ‘stayed in [her] room and bled for days’ following the termination, according to an excerpt of the memoir published in the Sun.

Desperate to erase any trace of the incident, ‘she burned her bloody sheets and clothes before going straight back to school.’

This frightening experience is one of many that features in Sharon’s memoir.

The Oscar-nominated actor detailed a number of harrowing memories from her career and personal life over the years, including her horrifying treatment during the production of the 1992 crime film Basic Instinct. She revealed she was tricked into removing her underwear for one scene and was denied any control over decisions regarding the portrayal of her own body.

Sharon also said that she was pressured multiple times to sleep with other actors during filming.

“I’ve had other producers on other films just come to my trailer and ask, ‘So, are you going to fuck him, or aren’t you? … You know it would go better if you did’,” she wrote. Producers argued that it would enhance the chemistry between Sharon and her coworkers on-screen, completely neglecting to respect her own personal agency.

"Many people ask me what it was like in my days of being a superstar," she continued. "It was like this. Play ball or get off the field, girl."
