Loose Women star reveals she's taking on surprising new soap role

Loose Women

The Loose Women ladies have clearly had their fair share of TV experience, but it's rare that we see any of them acting.

However, it looks as though that's all set to change, as one of the show's presenters has revealed they've bagged themselves a new role on a popular soap!

Janet Street-Porter returned to Loose Women yesterday, with the surprising news that she's joined the cast of Australian soap Neighbours - if only temporarily.

She revealed to the audience, "When I was in Australia I flew to Melbourne and I have a role in Neighbours! I get to play myself, I have more than one line.

"I’m not allowed to say any more. We are keeping it very, very secret. I spent the whole day on the sent. I went all round the set."

Clearly very excited, Janet continued to confess that one of the show's biggest stars gave her a tour of the well-known Neighbours set.

She said, "Stefan [Dennis], alias Paul Robinson, showed me round. I had to do my lines, I smiled so much my face was aching."

Janet will be making her debut on the soap on 19th April, although it's not clear how many episodes she'll be starring in.

Loose Women viewers were delighted to hear the news, with one writing on social media, 'Lucky Janet love #Neighbours @neighbours seen every episode since it started 😘'.

While another fan agreed, 'Looking forward to seeing Janet in Neighbours 👍 So good to seeing her back today one of my favourite Loose Women.'

Janet's appearance on Loose Women on Wednesday was her first in a while, as she's been busy recovering from her recent replacement.

She told viewers, "Lots of you asked me how it was getting on, well, it's completely and utterly recovered now.

"But, I did start playing tennis again and I've slightly wrecked my shoulder. So I've got a new ailment!"

Oh Janet - we're pleased to see you back anyway!
