Boris Johnson’s fiancée Carrie Symonds is reportedly self-isolating after the Prime Minister tested positive for coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week and it has now been reported that his fiancée Carrie Symonds is self-isolating without him.

Carrie is currently around six months pregnant with the couple’s first child together so is in the high-risk category when it comes to the virus.

The mum-to-be is reportedly self-isolating away from the Prime Minister and is believed to have been staying in the couple’s south London home for more than a week, while Boris is at 10 Downing Street.

Advice from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) says that pregnant women should avoid contact with anyone who has symptoms of coronavirus.

The Prime Minister revealed yesterday that he has been showing mild symptoms of the virus and so will now be self-isolating and working from home.

“Hi folks I want to bring you up to speed on something that is happening today,” he said in a video on his Twitter page, revealing the news to the population.

“I have developed mild symptoms of coronavirus, that is to say a temperature and a persistent cough, and on the advice of the chief medical officer I have taken a test.

“That has come out positive so I am working from home, I am self isolating.

“That is entirely the right thing to do but be in no doubt that I can continue thanks to the wizardry of modern technology to communicate with all my top team to lead the national fight back against coronavirus”.

A Downing Street spokesperson confirmed that Boris is following official guidance, adding, ‘After experiencing mild symptoms yesterday, the Prime Minister was tested for coronavirus on the personal advice of England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty.

‘The test was carried out in No 10 by NHS staff and the result of the test was positive’.
