Former Line of Duty star teases fans by revealing final episode of BBC hit series is frustrating and exhilarating

It's the final we've all been waiting on tenterhooks for—with series six of Line of Duty finally concluding tonight and many of us wondering if they'll be a Line of Duty season 7.

Fan theories have been circulating for the last six weeks about who H is and whether any of the main cast will get killed off—but now a former Line of Duty star has revealed that the final episode will shock us all.

Craig Parkinson, aka DI Matthew 'Dot' Cotton, who was killed in the third series, and revealed as the Caddy, spoke to Dermot O’Leary yesterday on his radio 2 show—and teased fans on how 'exhilarating' the final episode will be.

Even though Craig's character was killed over three seasons ago he's also the host of a podcast dedicated to the show—BBC’s Obsessed With Line Of Duty.

Talking about the final episode on the Radio 2 show yesterday he said: “I think it’s gonna shock people. I think people are going to be frustrated, it’s exhilarating, it’s exciting… these aren’t soundbites, I’ve seen it four times, honestly, and it really stands up to repeat viewing.”

However, when pressed he wouldn't confirm or deny any theories surrounding H, and if Superintendent Ted Hastings was the fourth man, telling Dermot: “You know I can’t answer that.”

While he also hinted that the show may not return for a 7th series, saying: “We’re so emotionally invested in the show and certainly the main trio, I would love it to come back, I think everyone would love it to come back.

“But you have to know when it’s a good time to get out and walk away with pride and dignity.”

In the current series, the AC-12 team is investigating the high-profile murder of journalist Gail Vella, played by Andi Osho. Like the anti-corruption team, she was looking into links between organized crime and the police before her untimely death—suggesting the clandestine network of corrupt officers could have played a role in her murder.

Securing record-breaking viewing figures with its sixth series—the most recent episode drew in more than 11 million viewers.
