The number of outfit changes the late Queen Elizabeth II would prepare for her famous Christmases at Sandringham has been revealed by her former dresser.
- Details of the Queen's Christmas Day outfit changes have been shared by her close friend and former dresser, Angela Kelly.
- Angela says that Her Majesty the Queen would prepare her festive outfits months in advance.
- In other royal news, Prince William’s ‘dreadful’ Christmas habit Princess Diana thought he’d 'picked up' from her has been revealed.
Her Majesty the Queen was known for having some seriously iconic fashion looks over the course of her reign, that lasted over 70 years, regularly being seen in bright colors, bold hats and priceless jewelry.
And when it came to Christmas time at Sandringham, the royal residence the monarch loved to spend the festive period with her family at, Her Majesty's former dresser has revealed that plenty of planning went into what she would wear.
Angela Kelly, who was a loyal aide and close confident to the Queen for decades, penned a book all about her time working alongside the world-famous royal matriarch, sharing details of how much planning would go into the Queen's bright and versatile wardrobe - especially for time spent at Sandringham!
Queen Elizabeth II spent almost every Christmas at the Norfolk country estate, apart from the last two Christmases of her life, which were sent at Windsor Castle due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sandringham was also the place where the Queen recorded her first ever Christmas broadcast in 1952, the first year of her reign.
A royal Christmas at Sandringham with the Queen traditionally included Christmas Eve gift exchanging, a festive lunch, numerous shimmering Christmas trees and a Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church with close members of The Firm in attendance.
Writing in her 2019 book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, The Dresser and the Wardrobe, Angela recalled the Queen's hectic Christmas fashion regime, revealing that up to seven outfits for one day could be in the mix, with options for every eventuality.
"The Queen is just as busy as she would be in London, with more guests to entertain.
"There may be several outfit changes in one day – it could be as many as five or even up to seven, although that is rare – depending on the number of engagements, as well as the weather and temperature, which can change so quickly around Sandringham," she added.
