The Queen received a heartwarming message from Pope Francis as she continued to relax on her summer holiday at her Scottish home, Balmoral Castle.

While enjoying her Scottish summer holiday, the Queen received a sweet message from Pope Francis as he flew over the UK on his way to Canada.

The message from one head of church to another read, "As I fly over the United Kingdom en route to Canada, I send greetings of good wishes to Your Majesty, the members of the Royal Family and all the people of the realm. I pray that Almighty God will bless you with his gifts of strength, joy and peace." This message was revealed by BBC Religion Editor, Aleem Maqbool on Twitter.

The Queen and Pope Francis met for the first time in 2014 when Her Majesty traveled to Italy and visited the Vatican City. Pope Francis is the seventh Pope that has met the Queen during her 70-year-long reign.

Although the message from the Pope was addressed to the Queen at her London home, Buckingham Palace, the Queen is actually not in London at the moment.

The Queen is currently staying at Craigowan Lodge, her stunning country cottage on the Balmoral Castle estate. This is the Queen's go-to holiday home for the summer and she is planning to stay there for many weeks with a few members of the extended Royal Family.

Prince William and Kate's adorable summer holiday plans with George, Charlotte, and Louis were revealed a few weeks ago. It was confirmed that the Cambridge's would also be joining Her Majesty in Scotland and would be staying on the Balmoral estate.

It was revealed that this invitation for a family holiday was also extended to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This invitation was seen as the Queen's olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan, but many experts claim that the royal couple will be rejecting this offer and choose to stay in California this summer.
