Prince Charles accidentally reveals he's watched Netflix's The Crown and is 'nowhere near' his counterpart in the show
Prince Charles accidentally revealed that he has seen Netflix's The Crown as he claimed he is nothing like his on-screen counterpart
Prince Charles accidentally revealed that he has watched Netflix's The Crown as he joked that he was nothing like the way he is portrayed by Josh O'Connor in the popular series.
- Royal fans have often wondered if the Royal Family have watched The Crown or whether they are uninterested in this fictionalized version of their personal history.
- Prince Charles has now hinted that he has in fact seen the series, and even has an opinion about how he has been characterized!
- In other royal news, The unlikely dessert that made the Queen 'really angry' and led to a sassy message from Her Majesty.
At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Anas Sarwar, the Scottish Labour leader, revealed that he had a private conversation with Charles and the Prince of Wales admitted to watching the show.
Anas said that they met at a multi-faith event before the opening of the Scottish Parliament. "There was a group of MSPs all standing and he came over and went, 'hello, nice to meet you all' and he went, 'I'm nowhere near how they portray me on Netflix,'" said Anas.
The Labour leader added, "I thought that was a really interesting way of how you describe yourself." Anas then got nervous about sharing this private story and according to the Daily Mail he then told the audience at the Edinburgh Fringe's Gilded Balloon, "I'm going to be in so much trouble for this because I don't think you are meant to tell private conversations!"
While Prince Charles thinks that he is nothing like the actors who have portrayed him in The Crown thus far, it is possible that he may see more of a resemblance or similarity in character as a new actor takes the reigns for the fifth season of the Netflix drama.
Dominic West teased 'tumultuous' drama in The Crown season 5 as the actor takes on the role of Prince Charles from the younger actor Josh O'Connor who played the Prince of Wales for seasons three and four of the Netflix show. Dominic has spoken about his admiration for the Prince of Wales and has previously stated, "I love the man. He’s a force for good, he really is an extraordinary man." Perhaps this will lead to a sympathetic portrayal that Prince Charles may enjoy in this drama-filled season.
It is thought that the new series of The Crown could be 'painful' for the Royal Family as the show producers are set to cover a number of scandalous events that took place in the 1990s. This includes a number of affairs within the family, Prince Charles and Diana's divorce, and the fire at Windsor Castle.
