Royal fans pointed out just how much King Charles looks like the late Prince Philip in a new photograph shared for his birthday

Royal fans have pointed out just how much King Charles looks like his late father Prince Philip in a new portrait shared to mark the monarch's 74th birthday.
- King Charles III marked his 74th birthday with the release of an official portrait for the milestone day.
- Reacting to the special image, members of the public couldn't help but point out the King's resemblance to his late father, the Duke of Edinburgh.
- This royal news comes after King Charles lead Remembrance Sunday for the first time as monarch.
As King Charles III marked his 74th birthday, a new official portrait of the new monarch was shared with the public, marking his first birthday on the throne.
It is unknown yet if King Charles will celebrate two birthdays as monarch, like his mother Queen Elizabeth II who famously celebrated an 'official' birthday in June after her real birthday in April.
In the poignant image, King Charles can be seen leaning against a majestic, decades-old oak tree in Windsor Great Park, nearby to Windsor Castle, with golden rays of sunshine captured glimmering over him.
In the caption shared alongside the photograph on Instagram, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles will be taking on the role of The Ranger of Windsor Great Park, a post previously held by his father Prince Philip, who passed away in April 2021.

"His Majesty The King has officially become Park Ranger of Windsor Great Park, seventy years after his father, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, was appointed to the post.
"The Ranger of The Great Park offers oversight and guidance to the Deputy Ranger and his team in the day-to-day stewardship of one of the country’s oldest estates," the statement beside the post read.

Prince Philip dedicated much of his life to the role and The Great Park, holding the title for decades from 1952 until he passed away aged 99.
Royal fans were also quick to point out that the King appears to bear a striking resemblance to his late father in the moving image too.
"Thought that was Prince Phillip for a moment," one wrote.
"HM looks very much like his father in this picture," another wrote, while a third agreed, penning, "I thought this was Prince Philip."
