The Duchess of Cambridge organized a fun birthday outing for Prince Louis' fourth birthday celebrations this weekend.

In celebration of Prince Louis of Cambridge's fourth birthday, images of the young Prince that had been taken by the Duchess of Cambridge were released by Kensington Palace

The photographs had been taken earlier in the month by the Prince's mother when they were in Norfolk by the dunes near their country home, Amner Hall.

These images did not reveal how the family celebrated the youngster's birthday but a royal fan spotted the Duchess with her children over the weekend and revealed how the four-year-old celebrated with his mother and siblings.

On April 24, the Duchess was spotted at London's exclusive Hurlingham Club, a sporting club in Fulham that has been around for 153 years and currently has a closed membership list. An onlooker told Hello! said that the Duchess and her children were playing tennis and described the Duchess as 'an attractive young mum.'

This sweet lowkey plan was clearly in line with the royal's typical birthday traditions who often opt for a low-key celebration rather than an over-the-top affair. Similarly, Her Majesty who marked her birthday on April 21, celebrated her 96th birthday at Sandringham with a low-key soirée.

It is even thought that instead of purchasing a decadent cake, the Duchess of Cambridge opts to bake her children's birthday cake the night before instead.

In 2019, the sweet reason Kate Middleton will stay up late tonight ahead of Prince George's 8th birthday was revealed. "I love making the cake," said Kate as she spoke about her children’s birthdays to baking icon Mary Berry, "It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it."

It is also thought that as well as a homemade cake, and a low-key celebration with his family, Prince Louis will have received a variety of gifts from the members of his extended family.

Julia Samuel, who is Prince William's godmother and a close friend of the late Princess Diana, said that she loves to give the royal children loud and annoying gifts. In an interview on the How To Fail podcast with Elizabeth Day, Julia revealed, "I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making."

"William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together, and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that."

It seems that despite his title as a Prince and his place in the royal line of succession, Prince Louis' birthday was much like any other four-year-old's as he enjoyed time with his family and a bit of cake.
