Starring Shailene Woodley and Felicity Jones, The Last Letter From Your Lover tells the story of a London journalist who discovers a collection of love letters from the 1960s.
Ellie, played by Jones, embarks on a mission to find out the identities of the people behind the letters, as well as the outcome of their illicit affair. She quickly becomes immersed in their secretive world, paying frequent visits to the library where she digs deeper into its catalogs with the help of archivist Rory (Nabhaan Rizwan).

The Last Letter From Your Lover trailer travels back in time to introduce viewers to Jennifer (Woodley), a young woman who has lost her memory after a car accident. When she returns home from the hospital to reunite with her husband, she finds a letter from a mystery man asking her to run away with him. The events that ensue unfold through a series of letters, which document Jennifer's struggle to decide what she truly wants in life. Woodley stars alongside Callum Turner, who plays her lover Anthony, as well as Joe Alwyn as her husband Laurence.
Directed by Augustine Frizzell, The Last Letter From Your Lover promises a mixture of investigative and romantic drama, delivering a film that's likely to tug at the heartstrings of even the most cynical viewer. Multiple scenes were also shot on the French Riviera, providing some much-needed summer views for sun-deprived Brits.
If this sounds like your thing, you're in luck—Jojo Moyes' latest release, The Giver of Stars, incorporates many of the themes you'll find in The Last Letter From Your Lover. The novel follows the story of five librarian women in Kentucky, as they navigate work, friendship, and love within the confines of 1930s America. It also features some refreshingly modern perspectives on sex, making it the perfect tale for the 21st-century romantic who loves a historical read.
