Michelle Obama announces very special guest for first podcast episode
Michelle Obama has announced the very special guest who will appear on her first podcast episode.
The former First Lady of the United States took to her Instagram account to share the exciting news with her over 40 million followers that the first guest to appear on her new The Michelle Obama Podcast will be husband and former President of the United States Barack Obama.
Sharing a lovely black and white photo of the couple in their home recording the podcast episode, Michelle wrote on her Instagram and Twitter feeds, 'Can’t wait for you to hear the first episode of The #MichelleObamaPodcast!
'It’s a long, thoughtful talk with @BarackObama—we had some fun with this one. That conversation goes live tomorrow, but you can follow us right now by clicking the link in my bio to hear a preview'.
It comes just days after the former First Lady took to her social media accounts to unveil her new podcast.
‘I’m thrilled to announce a new project: The #MichelleObamaPodcast with @Spotify!’ she wrote alongside a video introducing the project, which she hopes will open up conversations with families and help us to understand the difficult events of this year.
‘It’s been a tough year, and I hope this podcast can help us explore what we’re going through and spark new conversations with our loved ones. I can't wait for you all to listen’.

Michelle, whose husband Barack Obama was President of the United States between 2009 and 2017, revealed that she will be hosting some special guests on the podcast, as she will be in conversation with her close family and friends.
‘For this first season, I'll be talking with some of the people most dear to me: my mom, my brother, my friends, colleagues, and many others,’ she wrote of the podcast, which will be hitting Spotify later this month 29th July. ‘In each episode, we'll discuss the relationships that make us who we are.
‘Sometimes that might be as personal as our relationship with our health and our bodies,’ she continued. ‘Other times, we'll be talking about the challenges and the joys of being a parent or a spouse, the friendships that help us through hard times, or the growth we experience when we lean on colleagues and mentors.
‘What I love about these conversations is that they're issues we’re all dealing with every day,’ she went on, ‘and they can take on new meaning when we’re going through a global pandemic or seeking out long-overdue racial justice in our communities.
‘Mostly, I hope this podcast will help you open up new conversations––and hard conversations––with the people who matter most to you,’ added Michelle, who is mum to 22-year-old Malia and 19-year-old Sasha.
‘That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another––especially during times like this’.
The first episode of the podcast, featuring President Barack Obama, dropped earlier today. So head to your preferred podcast platform to have a listen!
