Celebrity rings come in a variety of shapes and sizes but the most iconic ones all have one thing in common – they are all incredibly expensive!
Both royals and celebrities have sported lavish rings over the years, and the jewels have caught the public’s attention with their iconic designs.
We’ve rounded up the most expensive rings owned by celebrities over the years from Grace Kelly to Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Kim’s diamond engagement ring that was stolen from her in Paris last week was given to her by Kanye West and had a 20 carat diamond. The ring was the second engagement ring given to her by her husband, trumping the first one which was 15 carat. It’s estimated that the ring is worth around $4.49 million and other jewellery stolen from Kim’s apartment was valued around $5.6 million. French police said that Kim’s presence on social media may have provoked the attack, as she frequently flaunts jewellery on her social media accounts. Just three days before the robbery, she posted a photo of the ring in question online which received over 1.2 million Instagram likes. Although it is unknown which group robbed Kim, most fingers point towards the highly organised criminal network known as the Pink Panthers who only steal valuable jewllery. Whilst the robbers now have possession of the ring they may find it incredibly difficult to shift after all the media attention.
John F Kennedy famously picked out a stunning emerald and diamond ring with a 2.88 carat diamond for Jacqueline Kennedy. After the wedding, the famous ring was remounted to replace the diamond baguettes with round and marquise cut diamonds. The ring has an estimated value of $1.39 million but it is unknown who owns it now as most of Jackie’s jewllery was auctioned off after her death in 1994.
Beyonce’s engagement ring from her husband Jay-Z features an 18 carat emerald-cut flawless central diamond with micro-pavé diamonds in platinum. The ring was designed by Lorraine Schwartz and is estimated to be worth around $5 million!
Grace Kelly’s 10.47 carat emerald cut diamond engagement ring was not the first ring Prince Rainer III of Monaco proposed with. The original ring was more modest in appearance, but once the Prince saw other actresses were wearing more impressive rings he upgraded it in the hope it would get noticed by the media. The stunning ring now has an estimated value of $4.3 million and later became her character’s engagement ring in the film High Society because she was never supposed to take it off! The ring is now on display in Sydney, Australia, at a Cartier store – the brand that created the ring.
Mariah’s colossal 35 carat diamond and platinum engagement ring was given to her by billionaire James Packer (who is the seventh richest man in Australia). The enormous ring has an estimated value of $7.5 million and was designed by New York designer Wilfredo Rosado.
Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic engagement ring was a staggering 33.19 carat diamond ring. In 1963 Richard Burton proposed to Elizabeth on their yacht with this enourmous diamond ring, after meeting on the set of Cleopatra. The ring is now worth an estimated £6.9 million. After her death in 2011, the ring was reportedly bought by Korean businessman Daniel Pang for $8.8 million.
Catherine Zeta-Jones’ engagement ring from Michael Douglas features a 10 carat marquise-shaped diamond that is set horizontally (rather than vertically), and is surrounded by 28 smaller diamonds. The horizontal design gives the ring a vintage look and the ring is currently valued around $2.5 million.
