For thousands of couples across the nation, the coronavirus lockdown has meant being cooped up with one another for a lot more time than usual.

With week eight of the lockdown well underway, lovers stuck indoors with plenty of time to spare and a sparse looking to-do list are unsurprisingly getting a little more intimate.

In fact, underwear and lingerie brand Figleaves has reported a 46% surge in sales of ‘sexy underwear’ and a 100% increase in shoppers searching for sultry sets.

But in light of pandemic related wedding cancellations, the searches for bridal lingerie have plummeted.

To all the brides-to-be out there, we feel for you!

In happier news, bosses of the inclusive brand reckon the rise in racy undies sales could be followed by a spike in purchases for a rather different type of underwear.

Jenni Burt, Head of Figleaves said, “Lingerie shopping preferences have changed dramatically during lockdown, with searches for Bridal lingerie showing a steep decline whilst, sales of Sexy lingerie have nearly doubled. There’s a well-documented link between economic crisis and the birth rate and we’re already planning for a bump in maternity and nursing bra sales towards the end of this year.”

If you’re looking to spice up your usual bra and knicker game in the hopes it’ll spice up your lockdown bedroom antics in turn, Figleaves has revealed its current best sellers.

The Pulse plunge bra is a popular one. The lacy, feminine piece comes in cup sizes A to I and can be teamed with a matching pair of Brazilian pants, a thong or a super flattering high-waisted brief.

It’s got some rave reviews from happy shoppers too, with many praising it for impressing their partners while still being super comfy.

My boyfriend very much appreciated it,’ one wrote.

Sexy, comfy, perfect. All words that describe this bra,’ another penned, branding it a ‘perfect fit’.

‘I bought this two weeks ago and think it's beautiful. Never thought I could wear a bra like this. So comfy and lovely to wear. Highly recommend! Will definitely buy more colours,’ applauded another five star reviewer.

With Figleaves offering 30% off for the rest of the day, we’ll definitely be doing some lingerie shopping!
