Stuck for gift inspiration? W&H Beauty Editor Fiona McKim picks her ten favourite gifts for every budget
Charlotte Tilbury will always go down well with beauty fans, who wouldn’t want to find a gorgeous sparkly case filled with very useful mini brushes under the tree?
Posh hand cream makes a fantastic gift – we all use it but are unlikely to splash out on the really good stuff for ourselves. L’Occitane make some of the best salves for dad winter skin in the beauty ‘biz, this little trio feel as beautiful as they look and will last at least until summer.
Teenagers in particular love a new hair tool at Christmas and this classy rose gold model is the prettiest I’ve seen this year. Not only does the sleek design look the part but ionic technology keeps hair in good nick (oh, and it was down to £67 last time I checked)
Don’t call it a comeback! For me the pleasure of a beautiful box of soaps never faded, but they do seem to be front and centre in all the chic window displays this year. This box feels particularly special, very Liberty, with 9 individual soaps all made in Portugal using natural aromatics and housed in show-it-off packaging.
Diptyque always bring their A-game to Christmas. This year’s folklore-inspired collection includes this decadent red marzipan-fragranced beauty. It’s just the right side of sweet and right at the top of my wish list.
‘Tis the season for luxury palettes, and while this blockbuster collection rings in at just shy of £100, in my opinion it’s crème de la crème of compact collections, so well worth the spend. The palette itself is very chic: Dove grey outside, pretty copper within and pleasingly light – eminently handbag friendly. Of course it’s what’s inside that counts and here we get 12 eye shades, not a duff shade among them, a blush, bronze and highlight powder, two powder liners and a creamy kohl pencil all in silky and blendable textures (I’d expect no less from Laura Mercier)
The gift of a good night’s sleep is not to be underestimated. I love these SLIP masks as they’re made with 100% silk, stop the skin around your eyes cerasing on your pillow and can be personalised to your loved one’s star sign. Make mine a scorpio, Santa.
What did we all do before GHDs? It’s a rare woman who has no use for this eminently useful styler in her life, whether for straightening, curling or smoothing. I particularly rate this icy blue edition of the intuitive new Platinum+ model.
What to buy the person who has everything? How about the ultimate iconic Jo Malone Cologne, loved by men and women alike, and for a limited time only in this gorgeous sparkly bottle.
One to give someone you really, truly love (that could well be yourself) A pretty vintage-style case contaning ample jars of day and night cream, a serum and neck and chest concentrate from Clarins’ uber-powerful Super Restorative collection.
