It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare review: a beautiful, lightweight base
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare is a hydrating, long-wearing base perfect for older or dry skins
Similar to a tinted moisturiser but longer-lasting, this may not be not suitable for those looking for full coverage. However, it is buildable, so it can help cover areas that need a little more attention. Would suit most skin types looking for a luminous finish and an excellent choice for daytime.

Why you can trust Woman & Home
Are you searching for the best foundation to make your skin look fresher and more radiant? It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare is up there as one of the best foundations we’ve tried.
Sitting in good company, this foundation joins the It Cosmetics line, alongside the cult Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream. So what’s different? Rather than offering medium coverage right off the bat, it is more lightweight and has a fluid texture that can be built up in layers. It doesn’t contain SPF. However, we don’t see that as an issue, as we prefer to apply ours separately anyway.
The shade range is much more impressive than the CC cream – with 40 shades in the spectrum compared to 12. Ensuring an inclusive shade range makes this one of the best foundations for darker skin too.
Who should buy it?
A daytime hero that will suit anyone looking for a lightweight base that they want to wear to work or for hangouts at the weekend. It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare is suited to those who want to enhance their natural complexion but don’t want heavy coverage.
It will suit most skin types, including sensitive ones, but dehydrated and combination complexions will love this the most, as the formula aids moisture levels and luminosity with a vast array of skin-loving ingredients.
It keeps your complexion looking hydrated without being overly dewy. It is also suitable for skin that's prone to redness and irritation, as it is void of fragrance and essential oils, and it contains complexion calming aloe vera.
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare Key Ingredients
Specifications
Price: £32
Coverage: Lightweight and sheer
Shades and inclusivity: 40 shades with 16 suitable for darker skins.
Added extras: Gentle exfoliant hepes acid
Having been created by plastic surgeons and dermatologists, It Cosmetics knows a thing or two about skincare ingredients. This particular formulation contains hydrating glycerin and beauty buzz ingredient hyaluronic acid, which is often found in moisturisers, serums and the best eye creams. It also helps to create smoother skin by using hepes acid, which works to exfoliate the skin gently and promote a brighter and more even complexion, meaning this could be a great choice of foundation for combination skin too.
The formula also contains aloe vera, which works to calm redness and irritation, and vitamins E and B5, which help defend the skin barrier against harmful free radicals and pollution.
Coverage and Lasting Power
Fresh and luminous on the face, it’s not too dewy and gives an effect similar to the natural texture of your skin. Well, actually, it’s better. It is perfect for older skins, as it doesn’t sit in any crow's feet or pores and it’s buildable, which is ideal if you have specific areas that you need a little more coverage on. It won’t cover patches or spots, and you can still see some imperfections, but that’s what concealer is for, right?
It’s thrifty, as a little goes a long way. Spreading beautifully over the face, the hydrating formula creates a uniform appearance, even on combination skin. Plus, unlike many other sheer foundations, it is long-wearing and doesn’t transfer on to clothing. It also doesn’t sink into dry patches, which means the coverage is smooth on all skin types and should help anyone – be their skin oily, combo or dry – find a perfect foundation match.
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare Packaging
The packaging is fuss-free – by no means luxury casing, but the glass bottle is nice enough. The pump works well and decants in one dollop precisely the right amount you need for your face. We prefer it to the softer plastic IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream tube, but that’s just a personal preference. And anyway, if the formulation is this good, why do you need anything else?
Application Tips
This is so easy to blend on to the skin but edge in with the amount of product you apply, as you don’t need much at all. Use whatever method you like, it works well with fingertips, a sponge or foundation brushes and tools.
Like any foundation, you waste a little more by applying with a sponge, but you achieve a lighter finish and if we had to vote, we’d go for fingertips or a beauty blender.
