Nigella Lawson loves this surprising budget mascara
Usually to get more out of our mascara we tend to lean towards higher-end, more expensive products that come with a whole load of promises to go with them.
But those promises don’t always mean a better product - and sometimes more affordable options can actually be the best mascaras on the market.
And chef Nigella Lawson has revealed that over more expensive products, she actually loves one budget, drugstore mascara.
In a column for The Sunday Times Style magazine, the 59-year-old opened up on her go-to beauty products, revealing that her favourite mascara is only £3.30!
"In my experience, cheaper mascaras tend to be better than expensive ones," wrote Nigella, "and I have come to learn that the mascara that teenage girls use (look at them, they are serious about lashwork) is the best mascara."
She then revealed that she lives by the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara, which is just £3.30 from Wilko.
"This is not subtle,’ she said. "But what it gives you is long, long lashes and, seemingly, many more of them. (I’ve never tried it without using a lash-curler first, but why would you?)".

"It’s not for lower lashes," she added, "but it doesn’t smudge or flake, and I wouldn’t be without it."
The dramatic mascara is one of the best lengthening mascaras for a low price and it's available from the likes of Amazon and Wilko.
The TV chef also opened up on her favourite foundation, revealing that she opts for IT Cosmetics CC+ Illumination Cream.
The cult CC cream uses colour correcting pigments to brighten your complexion and trusty hyaluronic acid to keep your skin hydrated, rather than drying out like a typical base.
Apply with the matching dual sided Complexion Perfection Brush for an airbrushed look.
‘You will have the complexion of one of those lucky people who doesn’t need to wear make-up.’
If it gives us flawless skin like Nigella, we're in!
