Scottish singing legend, Lulu, is celebrating an incredible 50 years in the business – and we can’t think of a better way to mark it than with a UK tour spanning 13 dates this month.
Lulu, who became a star at the age of just 15 and has released 22 albums and 72 singles, is visiting the likes of York, Cardiff, Sheffield and Nottingham, performing get-on-your-feet classics such as her first hit ‘Shout’, which she performed at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Plus, she’s performing brand new tracks from her latest album Making Life Rhyme – her first since 2005. Having returned to her first ever label, Decca Records, the album showcases a return to her soulful roots, the music that initially inspired her to perform – and we can’t wait to hear the tracks live.
She said: “I’ve always loved doing live gigs. After performing at the legendary BB King’s NYC last year and now starting to record the album, I’m re-invigorated and ready to get back on the road again.
Even before I ever had a hit record I was doing three or four live gigs each week. And recently I’ve had a renewed sense of purpose. I just feel a compulsion to make this new record and, because of that, the songs are just pouring out.
My family always said I came into this world singing, and I’d be happy to go out of this world singing – but I have a lot more to say before that happens!”
