Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good beach holiday? From the gorgeous views to swimming in in the ocean, it’s the perfect place to switch off and relax.
But with so many beaches around the world, it’s hard to know which one to visit next. Thankfully Big 7 Travel held a poll quizzing over 6,000 of its readers on their favourite spots.
This included data from review sites, Blue Flag status rankings and the opinions of the Big 7 Travel editorial team.
The overall winner was Zlatni Rat, more commonly known as Golden Horn Beach in Brac, Croatia. It got that name due to its unusual shape, which literally resembles a horn.
But it’s not just the shape that has captivated tourists everywhere. The sea changes colour from turquoise to a darker blue in just 10 to 20 metres, so it’s really beautiful to look at.
According to The Guide Split, it’s “the most famous beach in Croatia”, with one part of the beach specifically available for windsurfers for those of you who enjoy taking up water sports when on holiday.
Other activities such as pedal boats, jet-skis, scuba diving and even volleyball is available for beach goers, so there’s plenty to keep you occupied if sunbathing is just not your thing.
Second place on the list was Whitehaven Beach in Australia, a four-mile long stretch of sand that perfect for walking on barefoot as the silica means the sand doesn’t retain heat.
The scenic Fig Tree Bay in Protaras, Cyprus came in third, known for its rows of sunbeds with umbrellas and gorgeous floral surroundings.

The Bahamas ‘Pig Beach’ came in at number 10 on the list, which is very popular with bloggers and Instagram users. Here, visitors can swim with the pigs that reside on the island… though it’s not clear how they got there!
Another animal dwelling is Boulders Bay in Cape Town, South Africa, which came 12th on the list of 50 top beaches.
This is home to a colony of African Penguins, where tourists are able to observe the birds and take pictures, although their nesting areas are off-limits.
If you don't fancy travelling too far to experience one of the top beaches in the world, you'll be pleased to know a UK spot also made the list.
Pedn Vounder beach, in Cornwall, came 22nd in the list of 50 - not bad, eh?
