Princess Beatrice engagement ring designed by a favourite designer of Duchesses Catherine and Meghan

Princess Beatrice shared her lovely engagement news yesterday. And the details behind her beautiful ring have now been revealed.

Princess Beatrice shared the lovely news yesterday that she had got engaged to beau Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, also known as Edo.

The pair released a sweet joint statement saying that they are ‘so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together, and can’t wait to actually be married’.

They even posed for adorable photos taken by the royal’s younger sister Princess Eugenie, who tied the knot herself just last year.

One of the candid shots showed off the Princess’s dazzling engagement ring – and now details have emerged on the background of the gorgeous sparkler.

It turns out that the token was designed by Mayfair atelier Shaun Leane, who revealed that Edo started planning his proposal four months ago when he went to the jewellery designer to discuss the ring.

The diamond specialist revealed that the diamonds in the hand-cast platinum ring, which features a central 2.5 carat stone with two ¾ carat baguettes either side, are ‘ethically sourced and of the highest colour and clarity’.

‘The actual ring is handcrafted,’ said the former Alexander McQueen sculptural designer, ‘so the whole process has been about three to four months, from Edoardo coming in to see me.

‘We talked about the design and shared thoughts and elements to put into it to make it personal,’ he continued.

‘I would say the design took about two months,’ he added, ‘less than that, maybe six weeks and then the crafting of the ring has been about eight to ten weeks.’

Shaun has previously designed pieces for both Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan, with the latter being recently seen donning his Tusk Bangle at the launch of her Smart Works collection.

Duchess Meghan has also been seen wearing Shaun’s Talon Earrings at the Invictus Games in October last year and his Trace Bracelet, which she wore during last year’s royal tour to Australia.
