Prince Charles ‘heads to Welsh country home' to grieve Prince Philip in private
The Prince of Wales will reportedly ‘reflect alone’ on losing his father
Prince Charles reportedly headed to his country home in Wales within twenty-four hours of Prince Philip’s funeral, where he will “reflect alone” and grieve his late father.
- Prince Charles supposedly traveled to his home in Wales after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, whilst Duchess Camilla stayed behind to continue with private commitments.
- It’s claimed the Prince of Wales feels he has the “weight of the world on his shoulders” at this difficult time after losing his father.
- In other royal news, Prince Harry wrote ‘deeply personal’ note to Prince Charles to ‘set things straight’ ahead of Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.
Prince Charles was left devastated after his beloved father Prince Philip sadly passed away aged 99 on April 9. Following his death, the Prince of Wales broke his silence with a heartfelt speech about his “dear papa”. He and Duchess Camilla were also left stunned by the amount of flowers left by people in memory of his father.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral was held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 17, with only 30 guests attending due to Covid-19 restrictions. Prince Charles and his sons Prince William and Prince Harry were amongst the Royal Family members who poignantly walked behind the Duke’s coffin as it traveled to the chapel from Windsor Castle.
Following the funeral, Charles and his sons reportedly reunited for two hours at the Berkshire castle. This inspired hopes from some that there had been an easing of any tension between them following Prince Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview airing last month.
It’s now been claimed that within twenty-four hours of the funeral, Charles traveled to Wales alone to “reflect”.

A source claimed to the publication that: “Charles felt he wanted to reflect alone. He also wants to attend to the thousands of letters sent to him in condolence of his father's death.
“He is acutely aware that this is a hugely significant moment in his life and he feels like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

The source also discussed how integral Prince Philip was to the Royal Family, not only as the longest-serving consort in British history, but as the head of the family. And it seems Charles is feeling the loss of his father in more ways than one at this difficult time.
“All his life he has been heir to throne, but Prince Philip was the patriarch of the family”, the source explained.
“Overnight that's changed, and it's impacted him both professionally and personally. He needs time to think and contemplate the future of the Royal Family after what was a very difficult week.”

Although these reports of Prince Charles traveling to Wales have not been confirmed, the loss of the Duke of Edinburgh has certainly been deeply felt by his entire family.
The Queen is understood to have described his loss as leaving a “huge void” in her life. The couple first met in the sweetest way and were happily married for 73 years.
Her Majesty will remain in mourning until April 22, the day after her 95th birthday.
