Many members of the extended Royal Family have been appearing at Ascot over the past few days. Among them, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles attended Ascot on Wednesday, June 15, and made an adorable gesture as they were traveling to the races without the Queen.
The Queen did not attend the races, but the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall ensured that she was there in spirit as they left a space for her in their carriage.
The couple were travelling in the first carriage of the daily royal procession with Vice-Admiral Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt who is Master of the Household. Next to the Master of the Household there was an empty seat that many believe was left open for Her Majesty.
ITV commentator, Ed Chamberlain, first suggested that this empty seat had a symbolic meaning and was a nod to the Queen.
"I'm just assuming that the seat is left empty as a mark of respect because Her Majesty The Queen is not here today.
"Let's hope she comes tomorrow, tomorrow is the day of the Gold Cup.But the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles are very much at the forefront again."

"We're keeping our fingers crossed that the Queen will be able to join us at some point but I think you're right about leaving that empty seat in her honour," added his co-host Charlotte Hawkins.

It is still unclear whether the Queen will attend any of the Ascot races, as Her Majesty is suffering from episodic mobility issues and is still unable to confirm her attendance until the day before events.
Regardless, members of her family are still having fun at the races. Sophie, Countess of Wessex, stuns at Royal Ascot in her signature art deco brooch at the second day of the races, and eagle-eyed royal fans spot this meaningful detail of Beatrice's Royal Ascot outfit.
