The Duchess of Cambridge has given a moving speech as she honored those who worked tirelessly during the pandemic and brought the community together.

The Duchess of Cambridge hosted a Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster Abbey on November 8. In attendance at this event were various individuals and organizations from across the nation that worked to support communities over the past 18 months.

At this event, the Duchess made a moving speech as she spoke about the 'unimaginable challenges' of the pandemic and the 'heart-wrenching isolation' that comes along with numerous lockdowns and restrictions on social contact.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has presented us all with countless and previously unimaginable challenges. We have lost loved ones, seen our frontline workers placed under immeasurable pressure, and we have experienced heart-wrenching isolation from those we hold most dear," said Kate.

“Alongside this, we have seen how communities have come together to support those most in need. And through our separation from others, we have been reminded just how powerful human connection is to us all."

"Just how much we need one another. And how loving and feeling a sense of belonging to one another can provide comfort in tough times. The importance of simply being together."

The Duchess then referred to her role as a senior member of the royal family and spoke about how privileged she and Prince William are to meet so many inspirational individuals.

“In our roles, William and I are so fortunate to meet and spend time with phenomenal people across the country who day-in-day-out support individuals and families. And over the past two years, we have been truly inspired by countless people who have brought their communities together through simple acts of long and kindness."

"This carol service is our small way of recognizing the inspiring contribution so many of you have made, thank you."

"Christmas is a time when we can reflect on the past, listen to one another, focus on the relationships that nurture us, and build our resilience, so we can look forward to a shared brighter future. My hope is that this service creates a moment for us to do this together."

"Over the next hour, we will celebrate the power of this time of year. And I wish you all the very best for the year ahead.”

The Duchess was pictured chatting with Mila Sneddon, a young girl who suffered from leukemia during the pandemic.

Mila's mother Lynda spoke about their excitement being invited to the event, "Last two Christmases Mila has been in hospital so we are looking forward to having Mila at home this year. We are just an ordinary family it is amazing to be invited."

The Mirror reported that the Duchess asked the little girl what she had put on her Christmas list and complimented Mila's outfit.

"She asked me what I was getting from Father Christmas and I told her I wanted a Barbie Dreamhouse," said Mila. "I showed her my dress and she said I looked lovely."

The Duchess herself wore a red dress in tribute to another member of the royal family and paired the look with matching red shoes as she stole a color-blocking style tip used by the Queen.
