The popular series based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name stars Elisabeth Moss in the central role, as Offred, a woman trying to survive in a totalitarian society.In Gilead, women are a property of the state and are forced into sexual servitude.
And this dystopian tale has hooked viewers across the world, so you’ll be pleased to hear we’re getting the newest series on Channel 4 this Sunday,9th June.

The Handmaid's Tale series three will be following on from Offred’s decision to stay in Gilead instead of escaping to Canada, so she can find her daughter Hannah. So far, things are looking as bleak as ever, and we’re eager to find out how this series plays out.
The cast is looking strong for this season, with many key roles being reprised. Of course, former Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss will be fronting the series as Offred/June, and Yvonne Strahovski, who plays her old nemesis Serena Waterford, will join her.
Gilmore Girls’ favourite Alexis Bledel, known for her role as Rory Gilmore, appears in the third series as handmaid Ofglen/Emily. Following her escape at the end of series two, we just need to see what happens next...
Other cast members include Max Minghella, reprising his role as Commander Waterford’s driver Nick Blaine, and Joseph Finnes returning as Commander Fred.

The show’s creators have promised it will stay close to the source material too, although it won't be based on Margaret's actual words, given that she did not pen a sequel to the original book.
Writer and producer Bruce Miller explained, "The book starts, then jumps 200 years with an academic discussion at the end of it, about what’s happened in those intervening 200 years.”
“It’s maybe handled in an outline, but it’s still there in Margaret’s novel. We’re not going beyond the novel; we’re just covering territory she covered quickly, a bit more slowly.”
Series 3 will be thirteen episodes long, running from June until August. So that’s your summer entertainment sorted.
