Everyone's favourite Downton Abbey star, Matthew Goode, is set to take on a starring role in the second series of Netflix's The Crown - so which Royal will he be playing? Goode has been cast in the role of royal photographer and husband to Princess Margaret Lord Snowdon, otherwise known as Antony Armstrong-Jones.
Matthew Goode has recently dominated our TV screens as the charming Henry Talbot in the ever-popular Downton Abbey, where his romance with fiesty Lady Mary Crawley captured hearts across the nation. The smooth-talking Henry and Downton favourite Lady Mary eventually married at the end of the show.
And Matthew is set to remain in good company when he joins The Crown - the series bagged two coveted Golden Globes early on in 2016.
Goode's character, Lord Snowdon, was married to the Queen's sister Princess Margaret from 1960 to 1978, when the pair divorced after a turbulent relationship.
The second series of The Crown will run from 1956 to the mid-1960's, and Prince Charles is set to become the focus of the award-winning show. But sadly, after the second season draws to a close, the show's creators have confirmed that they will be replacing the entire current cast - including the impressive Claire Foy, who currently plays Queen Elizabeth II. Why? The show wants to chart the entire life of our current monarch, so will need different actors to accurately reflect the Queen's changing age.
