When you think of a cozy farmhouse, the last thing you would imagine is a 10-foot tall crystal chandelier dangling in the main room, but for Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, it's home.

The breathtaking home sits on six acres of property and was completely built from the ground up. While most rustic barns earn the name by aging over time, this entertainment barn was designed to look rustic and vintage, which was the greatest design challenge for Mila, Ashton, and the architects they hired.

“We wanted the house to look like an old barn, something that had been here for decades, that was then converted into a house,” Ashton told Architectural Digest of their Los Angeles home. “But it also had to feel modern and relevant.”

Even as the actors put together their ideas and inspiration on Instagram, they realized, ironically, that they both had similar styles in mind.

"When we looked at each other’s boards, 90% of the images we selected were the same, and most of the houses we pinned were designed by Howard,” said Ashton.

To help turn their dreams into a reality, the couple looked to architect Howard Backen of the firm Backen & Gillam Architects to execute their vision. The passion project ended up taking five years to complete, but from the photos AD posted on their Instagram, it's breathtaking.

The finished product features a main house connected to a guesthouse, entertainment barn, and a freestanding barbecue pavilion. It also features beams made from reclaimed timber, soaring glass-paneled sliding doors, and concrete walls that were made to mimic the texture of the wood grain.

What's even more unique about this one-of-a-kind home, though, is that it's sustainable. The home is completely powered by photovoltaics which converts light into electric energy. This was an important quality that the couple wanted to incorporate into their home as they are advocates for the environment.

The ravishing home has both a rustic and luxurious feel to it, but while we may stare in awe at these photos, the couple sees it as a space to completely be themselves comfortably.

“To feel tranquility in a space, everything needs to be in order,” Ashton explained. “If the world around you isn’t in order, it’s hard to get your brain in order. When we’re in our home, the world just makes sense.”
