- 2 ripe smallish melons, such as Galia or Cantaloupe
- 1 tub sorbet, such as lemon or mango
- 200ml (7fl oz) vodka, left in the freezer to get really cold
- 200g (7oz) mixed summer berries
Trim off each end from the melons, so that they stand up easily in the dish. Halve, then scoop out the seeds and discard. Add two good scoops of sorbet to each half, then pour over the half-frozen vodka and top with the summer berries.
You will find that cheap vodka will freeze solid, as it has been topped up with water, which will obviously make pouring very difficult! Untampered with spirit does not freeze solid, so make sure you buy a quality brand or, even better, a lemon or blackcurrant-flavoured vodka, such as Absolut.
