When it came to Amal Clooney's wedding makeup there was only one person she trusted to give her that fresh bridal glow. And that was the legendary Charlotte Tilbury, her regular make-up artist for special events. Hailed as one of the most beauty brides of our time, next-to-natural product placement played a big part in Amal's picture perfect look.
With quarantine restrictions still in place, bridal beauty is set to be a very different affair this year. In fact, it looks highly likely that those with Spring weddings may have to do their own makeup rather than rely on an expert - hence this timely inspiration.
According to Tilbury's website, the makeup supremo started by prepping and plumping Clooney's skin - first with the Goddess Skin Clay Mask and then Charlotte's infamous Magic Cream. The base was a combination of three products: Light Wonder Foundation, one of the best foundations (opens in new tab) on the market, followed by The Retoucher to disguise dark circles and a light dusting of the Airbrush Flawless Finish down the t-zone.
To add definition to Clooney's brows, Tilbury used The Brow Lift pencil, "combing the colour through the hairs in the direction of growth."
On the eyes she swiped on Eyes To Mesmerise in Oyster Pearl, an antique gold hue. "Wash the product back and forth with your finger," advises Tilbury. "To brighten the eye use a touch of Champagne in the inner corners." Using The Classic Shimmering Brown Eyeliner, she then created a soft feline flick. "Run the liner along your lash line, extending the liner slightly on the outer corner to create a gorgeous elongated cat-eye. Then add lashings of Full Fat Lashes mascara to the top and bottom lashes."
Subtle contouring came courtesy of the Filmstar Bronze and Glow. Tilbury worked the darker shade it into the hollows of the cheeks, sweeping the highlight shade on to the tops of cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose and over the Cupid's bow.
Next: lips. Tilbury used Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk for the outline and then to create pretty rosebud lips she layered M.I. KISS over the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Walk of No Shame.
For the finishing touch, Tilbury swirled the aptly named Cheek to Chic: Love Glow to the apples of Clooney's cheeks..
