The Queen looked positively radiant for her most recent public engagement, arriving at the new Thames Hospice on Friday morning in an icy blue dress and hot pink lipstick.
Her Majesty traveled from Windsor Castle to officially open the palliative care facility, which has been relocated from Windsor to Maidenhead to expand its treatment services. She was accompanied by Princess Anne, who respectfully stood behind her 96-year-old mother as she greeted staff, volunteers, and patients at the state-of-the-art center.
Always one to lift the room's mood with her style, the Queen looked effortlessly summery in a cool-toned, floral blue dress and her signature pearl jewelry. The monarch's perfectly applied makeup included a slick of hot pink lipstick, giving an added boost to her already beaming expression. A generously-sized sapphire brooch, which appears to be making its public debut, can also be seen pinned to the royal matriarch's gown.
The Queen's mobility issues were kept at bay by her trusty walking stick and low-heeled black brogues, both of which allowed the great-grandmother to move more comfortably around the hospice. She also carried her favorite black Launer handbag, which has been in a staple in her wardrobe now for 50 years, throughout the visit.
Princess Anne went for a notably more subdued ensemble, wearing a beige checked dress coat and black kitten heels for the engagement. The 71-year-old watched on proudly as the Queen, who celebrated her Platinum Jubilee last month, unveiled a plaque from behind a blue curtain to inaugurate the facility's opening.
Her Majesty was driven off the property in her Range Rover, before waving to royal fans shouting 'Hip, hip, hurray!' at the entrance of the hospice. The visit marks the monarch's third public appearance this week, after hosting an investiture ceremony on Tuesday and a virtual audience on Wednesday. It's understood she will soon travel to Balmoral Castle in Scotland for her traditional summer break, where she's expected to be joined by other members of the Royal Family for some relaxing quality time.
