Kate Middleton has been sending subtle messages with her jewellery for years and her mint-green earrings are particularly special

The Princess of Wales just re-wore her green amethyst drops and her choice of gemstone could be significant

The Princess of Wales is best known for using clothes to make a statement, particularly at big events like the recent State Visit of the Sultan of Oman, where she wore green as a nod to the Omani flag. However, she also does this more subtly through her jewellery and I think she might've just done it again in East Anglia on 22nd October.

The future Queen visited The Treehouse in Suffolk to see the exceptional care provided by her patronage, East Anglia's Children Hospices and later met volunteers at Café 98 which raises vital funds for EACH. Kate dressed simply but stylishly for these important engagements, opting for a Victoria Beckham olive suit and grey turtleneck.

She added a touch of sparkle with green amethyst pear drop earrings which she wore in one of her most moving appearances.

In September 2024 the Princess of Wales announced she had completed cancer treatment in a video shot by Will Warr and in certain scenes she can be seen walking in the countryside wearing these earrings and her floral Veronica Beard dress. Green amethysts are associated with renewal, growth and harmony, making these earrings the perfect, meaningful choice.

Given how much thought goes into everything Kate wears, this might not have been coincidental. Royal author Ingrid Seward suggests in her new book, Catherine & Diana, that the Princess has been wearing "healing" stone jewellery even more since 2024.

"Particularly since her year battling cancer, she has frequently chosen gemstone jewellery with 'healing' stones, including lapis lazuli, blue topaz and red garnet - her birthstone," she notes.

Each of these have meanings traditionally associated with them and whenever Kate wears these stones it could be seen as a special nod to her focusing on positive, calming and rejuvenating things at this time in her life.

The Princess has particularly loved green amethyst for many years and owns several pairs, including one that she allegedly received from Prince William as a present when Charlotte was born in 2015. Perhaps the drops she wore in East Anglia make her feel a similar connection to her daughter as well as to the renewal symbolism and reminding her of the milestone of finishing treatment.

The morning was spent meeting children, families, staff and volunteers at The Treehouse as she learnt how EACH supports them through different stages.

Then at Café 98 Kate saw the welcoming space that has been created to bring local people together and both visits were all about family, support and community. These things have always been incredibly important to the Princess of Wales, but particularly after such a challenging 2024.

She and Prince William have been prioritising family time more than ever and she's eased back into a full schedule of engagements. Sending a message with her jewellery as she undertakes these duties is something that might not be intentional, though Kate knows the positive impact her style can have and likes using fashion in this meaningful way.
