Meghan Markle has spoken out against the Roe v Wade overturning, calling the removal of the constitutional right to abortion "a blueprint for reversing rights."
Speaking in a new interview alongside US feminist journalist Gloria Steinem, the Duchess of Sussex condemned the Supreme Court's decision to reverse the 1973 landmark bill and promised to continue to 'tackle' the issue. She also shared Prince Harry's thoughts on Roe v Wade, revealing that the A-list couple talked about the overturning 'for days' after.
"This is having a very real impact on women’s bodies and lives starting now," she told Vogue's Jessica Yellin. "Women are already sharing stories of how their physical safety is being put in danger."
Several US states have already banned abortion following the Roe v. Wade overturning on June 24, with many more set to activate 'trigger laws' that will either forbid the medical procedure or severely restrict it in the next 30 days. The decision has led to an outpouring of indignation both nationally and globally, as fears grow for the future of reproductive rights for women, girls, and trans people in America.
The 40-year-old explained how the Roe v. Wade overturning will particularly target "women of color and especially Black women", warning that those without the resources to travel for an abortion "might attempt to give themselves on at tremendous risk" or purchase pills from "unregulated pharmacies."
"Others who are pregnant and find themselves in a medical emergency will be at the mercy of doctors and lawyers to determine if a procedure that is needed to save her life can even be done at all," she added.

The candid interview marks the first time that Meghan, a longtime advocate for gender equality, has publicly shared her pro-choice views.
"Nobody should be forced to make a decision they do not want to make, or is unsafe, or puts their own life in jeopardy," she said.
The duchess also revealed that Prince Harry, with whom she shares two young children, shares her progressive stance on the issue.
"His reaction last week was guttural, like mine," she said. "He's a feminist too."
"This is a blueprint for reversing rights. The ruling is a signal about the future of same-sex marriage, contraception access, and many fundamental rights to privacy. It feels like the tip of the iceberg and is part of why people feel so scared."
