In a nail-bitingly tense video posted on his Instagram story, Dustin can also be seen reacting to Tom's win in real-time. Sitting next to Tom's mother Dora, the Academy-Award winner leaps from his seat in joy once it became clear Britain had defeated China in the iconic event.
After some delightful screaming and multiple "Oh my gods", Dustin sits back down to gather his composure. "I did say they would hear us from Canada!" he captioned the clip.
The sweet reaction was uploaded shortly after Dustin shared a video of Tom speaking to his family before the Olympic event.
"Hello Lance, Robbie, and mum, because you'll all be together by now," he said from the Olympics Village in the Japanese capital. "I just wanted to say a massive thank you for everything you have done for me up until this point. As you know, the support from you guys has gotten me through my crazy days, some of my easy days, the highs and lows, and everything in between."
The couple became parents to Robbie Ray through surrogacy in 2018, one year after they tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Dartmoor National Park.

Tom also revealed how his mentality has changed since his performance at the Rio Olympics in 2016 when he won a bronze medal in the 10m synchronized platform but failed to qualify for the finals of the individual 10m platform.
"I think this journey from Rio, where I was at the lowest point of my sporting career, to now coming into this Olympics in a completely different mind space...I'm excited. The fact that you guys make me feel loved regardless of how I'm going to do makes things a lot easier, takes a lot of pressure off of me. So thank you for that. And I miss you guys a lot. I love you."
Tom finished the call with a special request to Robbie to wear his sports t-shirt for the big event and to "cheer really loud" so that he can hear him.
