Warning: spoilers ahead!
How has Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure responded to the Kate cliffhanger ending?
Episode Five of Line of Duty season 6 saw DSI Jo Davidson lure DCI Kate Fleming into a trap. Kate then faced off with corrupt cop Ryan Pilkington, both with guns turned on each other. Gunshots followed before the credits rolled, but to the shock of many viewers, Kate’s fate going into the penultimate episode of the series was left unknown.
Now Kate's actor Vicky McClure has responded to this dramatic cliffhanger ending and she's not giving much away.

Speaking on the Obsessed With... podcast, Vicky was keeping her cards close to her chest as she discussed what happened with former co-star Craig Parkinson who played DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan in the earlier seasons and what the series creator Jed Mecurio has got in store for them.
"Well you know, every episode of Line of Duty history is terrifying, and Jed is always there to serve the story, and it's exactly what happened with Dot," she explained.

"Dot's time came when it was time to serve the story and that's what Jed will always do, so I don't wanna put anything out there, but Jed serves the story."
Appropriately, given the show's flair for mystery, Vicky hasn't given much away ahead of next week's episode.
Though could this be an ever-so-subtle hint from the actor that Kate’s own time has come? And could Kate's death serve the Line of Duty story better than keeping the character alive?
It seems that for now, we’ll just have to keep calm and keep our fingers crossed that Kate will live to fight another day!
