George Clooney has opened up about the traditional way he keeps the romance alive in his marriage to wife Amal - and how even in lockdown he’s been continuing.

With the ongoing effects of the pandemic putting strains on relationships across the world, it’s never been more important to show your loved ones how much you care.

It seems that the Oscar-winning actor knows exactly how to do that when it comes to his wife of almost 7 years, Amal. Whilst some partners may think flowers or gifts are the perfect romantic touch, he has taken inspiration from a more traditional value - letter writing. Many people might not remember the last time they wrote a letter by hand, but it seems that George Clooney enjoys doing so. And it’s not just lockdown that has encouraged him towards this particular romantic hobby.

This is something George and Amal are understood to do regularly - and it’s so adorable.

What is George Clooney’s romantic hobby?

Speaking to AARP, the acclaimed actor opened up about how he enjoys writing letters and has been continuing to do so during lockdown. They report that George writes lots of letters by hand and that he and Amal write each other letters every couple of months.

“Even in lockdown, I'll write a letter and slip it on her desk, or she'll write a letter and leave it under the pillow. I'm a big believer in letters,” George reportedly revealed.

“I have letters from Paul Newman, Walter Cronkite, Gregory Peck. I have them framed. I put them in the house. If it were a text, it would feel different. Maybe that's a generational thing, and maybe it won't be that way 20 years from now, but for me, somebody sat down and wrote it.”

And it’s not just George and Amal writing each other beautiful letters. The couple also write letters to their children, Alexander and Ella, too. AARP disclosed how every year, the Clooneys go away for a weekend just the two of them. They both write each child a letter with the date on it as a record of where they were at that particular moment.

The couple’s twins were born in June 2017 and not only are they being introduced to the wonderful tradition of letter-writing, but it seems their famous father has also been helping with their clothes during the pandemic.

In the interview, George supposedly disclosed that: “I do a lot of sewing the kids’ clothes,” and “my wife’s dress that tore a couple of times. I was a bachelor for a long time and didn't have any money, and you have to learn how to repair things.”

With such talented parents, it will be interesting to see if George and Amal Clooney’s twins carry on any of their family traditions when they are older!
