Restaurant Review: L’Anima

Where? Sleek modern Italian cooking tucked between The City and Shoreditch, L’Anima is at 1 Snowden Street, London, EC2A 2DQ.

When? We visited early in the week for a taste of the spring/summer menu.

What we ate? We started with langoustine and prawn-filled ravioli in lobster broth, hand-picked crab with sea urchin and sweet red onions, chopped raw beef with Sardinian artichokes and bottarga. Then pappardelle with duck ragu and pistachios and marinated black cod in prosecco and paprika served with palourde clams. We finished with raspberry and almond tart with liquorice crumble.

Food envy? I spotted the raw tuna with avocado and mango on the table next to us that looked picture perfect. And my partner ate the rice and vanilla ice cream with Gariguette strawberries for pud and it was delicious! Topped with pink puffed rice, it turned heads.

What’s it like inside? Cool with clean lines creates an elegant and contemporary feel.

Any gossip? Chef Antonio Favuzzi was fresh from visits to Sao Paulo and Miami looking for new restaurant locations.
