Whether you've cut dairy out of your diet through choice or through necessity, you shouldn?t feel like certain foods are forbidden, not even ice cream. Don't let baking without milk and conventional flour put you off. Julia Thomas gave up dairy after being diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant. Not prepared to sacrifice delicious cakes, she baked her own. They were such a hit with friends and family (many of whom couldn't tell the difference!) that she set up her own award-winning bespoke gluten, wheat and dairy-free baking service, Cake Angels. Her recipe for free-from chocolate brownies is delicious.

Nut and egg-free eaters will love Alice Sherwood's affordable new
cookbook. Catering for a two-year-old with nut and egg allergies, Alice
has spent the last few years frustrated by what's on offer to those on a
restrictive diet. The in-depth introduction is great for both the newly
and long-time diagnosed, even covering travel. Her approach is also
original. Instead of ruling out all allergens in each dish, Alice
provides an alternative ingredients list where possible. Her Pizza Margherita will become a dinnertime favourite.
