Outfit Inspiration From London Fashion Week

With London Fashion Week drawing to a close this week, we’ve looked back at the best outfits from the catwalks and the new trends to try.

From feminine ruffles to oversized blazers there’s something for every taste and themes that you can adapt to suit your own style. We love Topshop Unique’s new collection influenced by 80s punk and goth style, it’s packed full of exaggerated coats, zebra print and fluorescent accessories – nostalgia with a modern twist.

Here are six key trends from the catwalks at London Fashion Week and how to recreate them for yourself with great high street buys.

Mango

Not the fruit, the colour! This interesting yellow/orange shade is all over catwalk at London Fashion Week as seen here in the Versus Versace SS17 collection in a head to toe look. Why not try injecting this shade into your wardrobe with some mango accessories – a great way to ease the colour into your wardrobe whilst you get to grips with how to style it.

Pier Pointed High Heels, £45.00, ASOS

These gorgeous mango coloured heels are perfect for adding a flash of colour to an outfit, their block contrast heel is also bang on trend this year too.

80s

The 80s are still having a moment in fashion with oversized coats and statement collars. Topshop’s Unique collection at London Fashion Week showed us how to bring that classic 80s look up to date. The new Topshop collection is inspired by London’s vibrant youth in the 1980s, primarily the punks, goths and new romantics that hung around the markets in Camden and Kensington.

Emerson Jumpsuit, £250.00, Topshop Unique

The statement collar and wide leg on this khaki jumpsuit adds a touch of the 80s to this modern look. The classic design also means it’s great casual and evening wear.

Silvius Blazer, £395.00, Topshop Unique

The all-over star print on this oversized blazer gives it a modern and sophisticated look – perfect paired with dark jeans or tailored trousers for a dressed up evening outfit.

Big Earrings

Accessorising is everything this season, and J.W Anderson’s LFW show demonstrated that with earrings, the bigger the better – plus they don’t even have to match! Most of Anderson’s earrings were long and grazed past the shoulder, but some were more simple in structure and these would be great for jazzing up your everyday look.

Statement Resin Drop Earrings, £35.00, Whistles

These oversized retro earrings from Whistles in black and amber are great for adding interest to an everyday dressed-down look, but also look excellent for more formal events. For added effect, tie your hair in a ponytail or half up so they can be on full display at all times.

Pink

Pink is another top shade of the season and it’s been all over the catwalks at LFW. Preen showcased pink in a variety of different shades from bold bubblegum to more subtle nude hues. Adding a splash of pink to your outfit is a great way of looking ultra feminine without even trying.

Spring Mozart High Neck Jumper, £69.00, French Connection

This beautiful pale pink ribbed jumper from French Connection is perfect for this season. This shade goes hand in hand with grey so why not try layering – another top trend from LFW – and wear a long sleeved grey knit underneath.

Printed Blouse, £25.99, Zara

This nude print blouse from Zara has storks printed all over it, giving it a unique twist on the classic silk skirt. Prints are big this year so why not inject a bit of individuality into your wardrobe with this eye-catching blouse?

Stripes and Ruffles

Mulberry’s LFW show was heavy on ruffles and stripes, with blazers that were reminiscent of British school uniform, but with an adult edge. Ruffles are also a top trend this season and were prominent during the Mulberry show from floaty dresses to more formal blouses.

Ruffle Front Blouse, £125, Karen Millen

This ruffle blouse is a great way of doing ruffles subtly, the beautiful cascading ruffles give this blouse a feminine feel.

Monochrome Striped Jacket, £33.60, Wallis

Military

Khaki shades and military-style tailoring is big this season and Donatella Versace’s latest collection took the military look to a new level with cropped trousers and cropped jackets, giving it an interesting feminine twist.
