The Cambridge's potential move to Windsor Castle could be seen as a "slap in the face" to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who reportedly requested to move there in 2019 but were allegedly denied.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be set to face yet another snub if Prince William and Kate Middleton's request to relocate to Windsor Castle is granted.
It has been reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are "seriously considering" relocating to Windsor for a multitude of reasons, including the kids' education and to be closer to the Queen.
But now a royal commentator has suggested that if their request is granted, it could leave Prince Harry and Meghan Markle—who quit royal life last year—feeling put out, after they were allegedly denied the same luxury in 2019.
Writing for the New Zealand Herald, Daniela Elsner claimed, "If the Queen was to open her adored home up to the Cambridges, after having denied Harry and Meghan the same request, it would be hard not to read this as something of a slap in the face for the self-exiled Sussexes."
It's been a difficult year for the royal family following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to move to a $14 million Santa Barbara mansion in America and subsequent tell-all interview, which shocked even Oprah.
And this could drive an even bigger wedge between the already feuding brothers.
"If this relocation does come to pass, it will only provide more ammunition to those who have argued that there has long been one rule for William and Kate and another for Harry and Meghan," she added.
The Cambridges currently split their time between Anmer Hall and Kensington Palace. But, with Prince Philip’s death forcing the entire family to rally around the Queen, it's thought now could be the time to return to their roots.
And, with further senior royal shake-ups on the horizon, Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be considering re-locating from Norfolk to Windsor to be closer to the helm.
An insider told the Mail on Sunday, “Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia and it was useful for Christmases at Sandringham, but it doesn’t really work any more.
“It’s a little too far away for weekends, but Windsor is a perfect compromise. They are eyeing up options in the area.”
