Why Duchess Camilla will miss out on some of the Queen’s most beautiful jewels unlike Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cornwall has opened up about one thing that's 'not going' to happen which could mean she never enjoys some royal pieces...

It's thought Duchess Camilla will miss out on the opportunity to wear some of the Queen’s most beautiful jewels, unlike Kate Middleton, for a very simple reason.

Whilst the Duchess of Cornwall has always been an important senior member of the extended Royal Family since she and Prince Charles tied the knot back in 2005, Camilla Parker Bowles’ importance to the monarchy’s future was highlighted earlier this year. In a heartfelt message released to mark her Accession Day, the Queen revealed it’s her “sincere wish” that her daughter-in-law will be Queen Consort when Prince Charles takes the throne.

This wonderful announcement highlighted their bond and Duchess Camilla addressed the Queen Consort news later, describing it as a “great honor”. Though it seems going forwards Duchess Camilla will continue to miss out on potentially having the opportunity to wear some of Her Majesty’s most magnificent royal jewelry pieces on loan…

Over the years Duchess Camilla is said to have loved wearing one of Queen Elizabeth’s tiaras, the Greville tiara. And when it comes to Queen Elizabeth’s brooches, she’s also believed to have been loaned some of these stunners for special occasions, including the Queen Mother’s Rock Crystal brooch for the State Opening of Parliament last year.

However, when it comes to fabulous royal earrings, no matter how beautiful they are, it could be that Duchess Camilla will miss out for one simple reason - her ears aren’t pierced!

Opening up to British Vogue ahead of her 75th birthday on 17th July, she revealed that although her grandchildren might well try and convince her otherwise, she’s determined to keep it that way. Discussing the possibility of having them pierced, Duchess Camilla responded, “And they are not going to be!”

“No, I’m not going to give it to myself for a 75th birthday present,” she added. “[The grandchildren] will try to persuade me, but nothing’s going to pierce my ears.”

The publication reported that "famously" the Duchess' "ears remain unpierced". Although she has been pictured wearing earrings for royal engagements over the years, it's not clear whether these were perhaps fastened in a different way or modified given her own recent comments regarding her unpierced ears.

And with her self-proclaimed decision that "nothing" will change her mind, it could be that Duchess Camilla will continue to miss out on getting to enjoy some of Her Majesty’s breath-taking earrings. Throughout her time as a working royal, Duchess Camilla’s stepdaughter-in-law Kate Middleton has sported several wonderful pairs of the Queen’s earrings at significant moments.

At Prince Philip’s funeral last year, the Duchess of Cambridge’s subtle tribute to the Queen saw her opt for the Bahrain diamond and pearl drop earrings. These are understood to have been a gift when the Queen married Prince Philip

Meanwhile, more recently Kate Middleton stunned in yellow at a Service of Thanksgiving during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. For this event, she wore the same diamond and pearl earrings and at the Platinum Pageant Kate reportedly chose floral earrings from the monarch’s collection.

So even though Duchess Camilla might sadly never get to wear these beautiful pieces, the Queen’s jewelry is still being enjoyed by her nearest and dearest.
