Prince Harry is 'satisfied' with the security his family will receive during their trip to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, after receiving 'cast iron assurances' over protection measures.

Prince Harry is 'looking forward' to returning to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this bank holiday weekend, after receiving 'cast iron assurances' over the safety of his family during their stay.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to fly into London with their two children, Archie, 3, and one-year-old Lilibet, on Wednesday, marking their first joint visit to Britain since their withdrawal as senior royals in January 2020.

The high-profile trip will also see the A-list couple, who now live in Montecito, California, reunite with the Royal Family after more than two years of an alleged transatlantic feud.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship with their English relatives suffered greatly in the months following their bombshell US emigration, with allegations of racism against Buckingham Palace and the duke's subsequent comments about 'genetic pain and suffering' only exacerbating tensions. The COVID-19 pandemic didn't help matters, as restrictions on international flights hindered the couple's ability to travel back and forth between the UK and the US.

In January 2022, news broke that the duke was threatening legal action against the Home Office for refusing to provide government security to his family during the Jubilee. The department also rejected the 37-year-old's offer to pay for the service himself rather than expecting the British taxpayer to cover the costs.

Luckily, it seems like Prince Harry has managed to come to an agreement with the UK government in time for the historic event.

"For Harry, this has always been about protecting his family," a Sussex insider revealed.

"He has been in constant contact with the relevant parties and made it very clear that he wouldn’t travel without receiving cast iron assurances over the safety of his family.

"He is satisfied the right procedures are in place and they are all very much looking forward to this week’s celebrations and of course getting to spend time with Her Majesty."

It remains unclear how much involvement Harry and Meghan will have in the festivities due to their status as non-working royals, but it's expected that they will at least attend the Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen on Friday, 3 June.

It's also been speculated that they will be joined by Her Majesty for Lilibet's first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage, where they will be residing for the duration of their stay, on Saturday, 4 June.
