Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, revealed a big regret after leaving the Royal Family during her candid interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex has opened up about her “one regret” after she and Prince Harry left the Royal Family. The insightful revelation came during the famous interview with talk show host Oprah Winfrey where she and Harry told their side of the story and what it was really like to leave the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex first stepped back as senior members of the Royal Family last year. It was confirmed earlier this year that the couple would not be returning to the Royal Family as working royals.

During their enlightening interview Prince Harry, who joined Meghan for part of the “intimate conversation” seemed to stand by the way they quit.

When asked by Oprah if they had any regrets, Prince Harry said, "No, I’m really proud of us.

"We did what we had to do and now we have another little one on the way,” he concluded, referencing his and Meghan’s second child. The couple announced they were expecting baby number two just days before confirmation of their bombshell interview was announced.

During the two-hour-long interview, Prince Harry also went on to share the gender of his and Meghan’s second baby, who it’s thought they will welcome in spring or summer this year.

However, whilst Prince Harry spoke of having no regrets, the same could not be said for Meghan, who went on to reveal a particularly devastating regret about life at the center of the Royal Family.

“I have one”, the Duchess of Sussex explained.

“My one regret is believing them when they said I would be protected. I believed that and I regret believing that, because if I had seen that wasn’t happening, I would have been able to do more. But I wasn’t supposed to see it, I wasn’t supposed to know.”

Meghan went on to make an even more personal revelation, sharing that at one point she “could not feel lonelier” as she struggled with her mental health during the first few years of her and Prince Harry’s marriage.

This heartbreaking admission comes after the trailer clip for this extraordinary interview already showed Prince Harry discussing his fears about “history repeating itself”. This was thought to be a reference to his late mother Princess Diana's tragic death in 1997.

“I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her, going through this process by herself all those years ago,” Harry went on to explain.

"It's been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other."
