The Duchess of Cambridge stuns in an elegant coat dress for her first royal engagement since Prince Philip's funeral
The Duchess of Cambridge looked regal and sophisticated for a surprise trip to East Ham Squadron, Air Training Corps
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are back to work after what must have been a difficult week for the whole royal family.
- The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made an appearance at 282 East Ham Squadron, Air Training Corps in East London, to talk to Air Cadets about their work with young people and how their profession can help with developing crucial life skills.
- Catherine wore a stylish black coat dress for the occasion, paired with simple black shoes and a black clutch bag. The Duke and Duchess were also reported to have worn face masks while touring the indoor facility.
- In other royal news, Meghan Markle spoke with the Queen before Prince Philip's funeral, after a physician advised her not to travel with Harry to the UK.
It's been a somber time for the royal family, who are mourning the death of Prince Philip. The whole family is currently in an official mourning period to mark Philip's passing, during which it is customary to wear black.
Both William and Kate were pictured in dark colors for the visit, with Catherine wearing a stylish black coat dress. It may not be winter coat season anymore, but a lightweight coat dress like this is a great option for spring, while there's still a chill in the air.

This isn't the first time Catherine has been pictured in a coat dress –obviously, the Duchess is a fan of the trend. Duchess Catherine also wore a stylish Catherine Walker coat dress for a visit to a vaccination center in late March. Kate Middleton's dresses are famous for selling out quickly –anything the Duchess wears seems to be an instant hit!
This time, the coat dress was an off-white color, with lace details, which was fitting for the venue, considering the vaccinations took place at Westminster Abbey, where the Duke and Duchess got married almost ten years ago.
During the visit to the Air Training Corps, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge discussed how the Air Cadets are helping support young people by helping them develop vital life skills. The squadron paid tribute to the late Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh was the Air Commodore-in-Chief of the Air Training Corps for 63 years.
