Meghan Markle has revealed to Oprah Winfrey she was already married to Prince Harry when their public televised marriage took place.
• The couple actually got married in their backyard, three days before the public event
• The marriage was a simple affair with only the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby in attendance
• In other Royal News, Meghan Markle sets the record straight on rumors she made Kate Middleton cry
During their tell-all interview with Oprah last night, Meghan Markle has revealed she was actually already married to Prince Harry before their big televised public ceremony.
Meghan told Oprah the couple wanted a private wedding, just for themselves without the world watching, “we called the Archbishop and we just said, look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world. But we want our union between us, so the vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury.”
The couple's first wedding remained a secret, with the Archbishop of Canterbury being the only other person present. It's unclear whether the rest of the Royal Family were aware of the secret marriage.
During their interview with Oprah, which airs tonight in the UK, Meghan and Harry take a deep dive into their lives in the public eye, touching on subjects from Princess Diana and her inheritance, to Harry's current relationship with his father, Prince Charles.
Harry even confeses that Prince Charles has stopped answering his phone calls after the couple's departure from royal duties last year.
Meghan also reveals it was Kate Middleton who made her cry during the run-up to Meghan and Harry's big day, not the other way around which had been widely reported over the past few years.
The explosive interview has shocked royal fans the world over with revelations about what it's really like to be part of the Royal Family. The UK version will air tonight on ITV.
