Yesterday saw senior members of the Royal Family congregate at Sandringham to join the Queen in a discussion about how the family’s future.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan dropped a bombshell announcement last week, revealing that they plan to ‘step back’ as senior members of the royal family.

Subsequently, the palace was thrown into chaos, with the Queen ordering crisis talks between Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry and herself to decide on how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should go forward in the monarchy.

But with Duchess Meghan having flown back to Canada to join son Archie towards the end of last week, the mum-of-one was notably absent from the talks.

And it turns out there was a reason behind it.

According to a palace insider, it was a decision that was made by Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan themselves.

"The Sussexes decided that it wasn’t necessary for The Duchess to join,” a palace source told HELLO!.

And it seems like it was a successful decision, as following the talks the Queen announced that she and her family were “supportive” of the Duke and Duchess.

‘My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,’ she wrote in an official statement.

‘Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

‘Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.

‘It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK’.
