Kensington Palace has released a rare statement to clear up rumours about the Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan Markle.

Being one of the most famous families on the planet, the British royals are used to seeing stories about them on the press and rarely bother to comment on them.

However, in rare cases, their teams do issue a statement to clear up certain rumours – like when it was reported that Harry and Meghan gave neighbours strict rules, or rumours about Harry and William's relationship.

Now they were forced to do it again, after claims emerged that Duchess Catherine was feeling ‘frustrated’ and ‘trapped’.

Tatler magazine reported that a close friend of the Cambridges said William and Catherine were not happy with the increase in their workload since Harry and Meghan quit royal family.

'William and Catherine really wanted to be hands-on parents and the Sussexes have effectively thrown their three children under a bus’, the close friend reportedly told the publication.

'Kate is furious about the larger workload. Of course she's smiling and dressing appropriately but she doesn't want this. . She feels exhausted and trapped.’

Following the publication of the piece, Kensington Palace issued a short statement to say the story included ‘inaccuracies’ and ‘false misrepresentation’.

It read, ‘This story contains a swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations which were not put to Kensington Palace prior to publication.’

According to an analysis done by Yahoo UK, Duchess Catherine has indeed been putting in more work during lockdown.

Compared to the same period last year, the duchess carried out events on nine days this year (from 22 March until 12 May) – two more than last year.

As well as Harry and Meghan's exit, Prince Andrew also stopped performing royal duties since the Jeffrey Epstein controversy in November.

As the coronavirus pandemic has also forced the at-risk royals like the Queen into self-isolation, younger members of the Firm are due to pick up the slack - including the Cambridges, Sophie Wessex and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
