Prince Philip passed away two months shy of his 100th birthday. However, the Queen still plans to honor her late husband's centennial year, according to royal experts.

• Author Ian Lloyd revealed to the Daily Express that the Queen is expected to attend a private service for the late Duke of Edinburgh.
• Although the UK will not partake in the services, they'll be able to honor Prince Philip's legacy with two exhibits later this summer.
• In other royal news, the Queen met Lilibet Diana for the first time over a video call.

Although Prince Philip's 100th birthday on June 10th will be a solemn event for the royal family, the Queen plans to mark the occasion in a special way.

Royal experts believe she will be attending a personal, private service for her late husband of over 70 years, who has been by her side throughout her 69-year reign— the longest in British history. Specifics about location and who will be in attendance have not been revealed, though sources believe that the royal family will “step up” to support the Queen at various engagements now that Prince Philip has passed.

This is not the only significant event the Queen has been forced to ring in alone. She marked the anniversary of her crowning in June without her "strength and stay" and then met her 11th great-grandchild Lilibet Diana via video call without the Duke of Edinburgh by her side. Since the two held such a special bond—and Prince Philip still charmed the Queen after seven decades—it's safe to say the royal family is keeping his legacy alive during important moments.

The public might not be able to join in on the 100th birthday service, but they can learn more about Prince Philip later this summer. Exhibits at Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which open on June 24 and July 23 respectively, will honor the late Duke of Edinburgh and his legacy. Royal fans can take a look at over 150 artifacts and dive into Prince Philip's accomplishments.

We'll be thinking of the Queen on this testing day.
