The Duchess of Cornwall revealed how she fully intends to follow Prince Philip's approach going forwards as a future consort to a monarch...
Duchess Camilla is intending to follow Prince Philip’s “philosophy” when it comes to her future in the Royal Family.
- The Duchess of Cornwall has got candid about her approach to her royal future during a speech at a 75th birthday lunch.
- She declared that the late Duke of Edinburgh’s “get on with the job” motto is something she’s striving to emanate herself.
- This royal news comes as Duchess Camilla praised “very natural” Kate Middleton as she revealed how she gained Prince Charles’ “approval”.
In recent months senior members of the extended Royal Family have been observed taking on even more prominent roles, with the Queen’s new job description stating that she will be “greatly assisted” by her family members going forwards. Amongst those who appear to be busier than ever are Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, the future King and Queen Consort. And with even more responsibilities awaiting her when the Prince of Wales ascends to the throne, it’s now been revealed that Duchess Camilla is intending to follow Prince Philip’s “philosophy”.
The Duchess of Cornwall got candid about how her late father-in-law has influenced her approach to her very public role as she attended a “splendid lunch” to celebrate her upcoming 75th birthday on July 17th…
Duchess Camilla was guest of honor at a birthday lunch hosted by The Oldie magazine and was joined by “national treasures”, including Dame Joanna Lumley, Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and Lucia Santa Cruz who’s understood to have first introduced her to Prince Charles. It was during a speech to the esteemed guests that the Duchess revealed how Prince Philip’s “get on with the job” motto has been a huge source of inspiration to her.
Remarking upon how Prince Philip and the Queen married in 1947 - the year she was born - Duchess Camilla dubbed them “two of the most remarkable people in our country’s history”.
She continued, “The Duke of Edinburgh’s philosophy was clear: ‘Look up and look out, say less, do more – and get on with the job’ - and that is just what I intend to do."
"Both he and Her Majesty have always been the very touchstone of what it truly means to “get on with the job”, and an inspiration to each one of us here to do the same, whatever our age," the Duchess added.

Mirroring the Queen’s devotion to her duties, the late Duke of Edinburgh was Britain’s longest serving consort and one of Her Majesty’s strongest supporters and closest confidantes. Whilst according to the Royal Family’s website , Prince Philip was also associated with a staggering 992 organizations in some capacity, be it President or Patron, throughout his life.
As Her Majesty's "strength and stay" it's perhaps unsurprising that Prince Philip’s absence was felt deeply by his family at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June. In a speech at the Platinum at the Palace party, for which he was accompanied on stage by Duchess Camilla, Prince Charles remarked upon how much his father was “missed”.
“My Papa would have enjoyed the show and joined us wholeheartedly in celebrating all you continue to do for your country and your people,” he declared.
Whilst just weeks ago Duchess Camilla praised her “much-missed” royal father-in-law during her and Prince Charles’ tour of Rwanda. Their bond shone through in her personal message and the news that Duchess Camilla is intending to follow Prince Philip’s “philosophy” going forwards as a future consort highlighted this once again.
